With the Kayak Río Serrano and Grey, you will discover Torres del Paine National Park and its spectacular surroundings while paddling. The tour starts and ends at the base camp located in the picturesque village of Villa Río Serrano. During the excursion, you will paddle between the impressive icebergs of the Grey and Serrano glaciers, enjoying the unparalleled views of Grey Lake.
You can choose between two options:
- 3-hour route (no lunch), departing at 9:00 am or 3:00 pm
- 6-hour route (with lunch included), departing at 9:00 and finishing at 3:00 pm
In the 6-hour option, more experienced kayakers will have the opportunity to navigate through the river’s rapids, adding an extra thrill to the adventure.

Kayak Rio Serrano and Grey
Meeting point - Villa Río Serrano
Our kayaking adventure on the Serrano River will begin at the Villa Rio Serrano Base Camp, located on the banks of the river, at the selected time. Once we are all gathered, the guide will provide us with the necessary equipment for the activity, give us a safety talk and explain the basics of paddling, making sure we are all ready to enjoy the tour with confidence.

Safety talk and start of the tour
Before starting the trip, our guide will give a brief safety talk. Then, we will get into the kayak and start paddling gently, following the current of the Pingo River, until we reach the Lago Grey peninsula. The scenery will take your breath away, with the views of the Torres del Paine surroundings.

Descent down the Grey River and lunch
For about 3 hours, we will descend the Grey River, enjoying the spectacular views of Paine Grande and Cerro Cuernos. Upon reaching the Grey Bridge, we will take a break to rest and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our team. After this break, we will continue paddling to the point where the Grey and Serrano rivers meet, and return to base camp in Villa Serrano.

3-hour tour

Grey Lake navigation and Grey River descent.
The half-day option will start on the Pingo River or the Grey River, depending on weather conditions. During the excursion, we will travel along the impressive Grey Lake, surrounded by icebergs coming from the glacier, an incredible visual spectacle. Then, we will continue down the Grey River, enjoying the views, until we reach the Grey Bridge, where we will finish the kayak tour on the Serrano and Grey Rivers.

What to bring to Kayak Serrano River tour
To fully enjoy Kayaking Rio Serrano and Grey, it is important to be prepared with the essentials. Here is a list of what you should bring to make your experience comfortable and safe:
- Comfortable and sporty clothing: Ideal for exercise and to be comfortable during the tour.
- Waterproof clothing: Since you might get wet, it is essential to bring a waterproof jacket or pants.
- Appropriate footwear: Waterproof boots or sneakers, comfortable for kayaking and walking in the area.
- Sun protection: Sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat or cap to protect you from the sun.
- Gloves (optional): For more comfort when paddling, if you prefer.
- Water and snacks: It is advisable to bring water to hydrate yourself during the tour and some snacks if you wish.
- Waterproof camera (optional): To capture the breathtaking scenery, if your camera is waterproof.
Remember that all the technical equipment necessary for the tour, such as kayak and life jacket, will be provided.
Where does the tour Kayak Serrano River start
The meeting point is the Base Camp in Villa Rio Serrano, located about two hours from Puerto Natales on route Y-290. Be sure to consider this time to arrive punctually.
This tour is especially recommended for those staying the night before or the night of the tour in one of the lodges in the small town of Villa Río Serrano. If you wish to do the tour and return to Puerto Natales the same day, it is advisable to have your own vehicle.
We suggest you rent a car for more flexibility, or consult the Hotel Lago Grey and Villa Río Serrano transfer service.

What should I bring on the tour?
We recommend that you wear comfortable and sporty clothing, waterproof clothing, appropriate footwear, sun protection (sunglasses, sunscreen, hat), and water for hydration. If you wish, you can also bring a waterproof camera.
Is there an age restriction to participate in the tour?

Can I go and return from Puerto Natales in the same day?
