The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are an unpredictable natural wonder, and while we’ll visit several prime locations to catch a glimpse, we can’t guarantee their appearance. However, your experience will be filled with unforgettable moments! Our expert guide will ensure you enjoy every part of the journey.
Please note, the bus doesn’t have restrooms, but we’ll make plenty of stops to keep you comfortable.
Lastly, this tour is for those 12 and older, so it’s not recommended for younger kids.

Meeting Point in Tromso
Meet us at the designated time at the meeting point, where you'll hop on a comfortable, air-conditioned bus. Then, we'll head out for northern Norway in search of the magical Aurora Borealis.
After about an hour, we’ll make our first stop at a stunning location. Along the way, let the awe-inspiring Arctic landscape take your breath away!

Aurora Borealis Hunting in Tromso Norway
You'll travel along the route with an expert guide who will share the best-kept secrets of the Norwegian sky as you hunt for the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis. The journey time will be flexible, adjusting to weather conditions and the prime spots for aurora sightings.
Throughout the tour, you’ll stop every hour or so at breathtaking Arctic landscapes, surrounded by snow and towering forests. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of reindeer in their natural habitat.
Once you find the perfect spot to witness the aurora's dance, you’ll enjoy a longer break. Relax by the campfire, indulge in local snacks and hot drinks, all while soaking in the magical Arctic atmosphere.

Return to Tromso
The experience will last between 5 and 6 hours, depending on how quickly we spot the Aurora Borealis. Afterward, we’ll head back to Tromso so you can relax at your accommodation and relive the magical moments through the photos and videos you captured.

What to bring to Tromso Northern Lights tour
To get the most out of the Tromso Northern Lights Tour, it is important to be well prepared for the Arctic conditions. Here is a list of what I recommend you bring:
Clothing and footwear.
- Thermal clothing: A good base layer of thermal clothing to maintain body heat.
- Midlayers: Pullover or fleece jacket.
- Waterproof jacket and pants: To protect you from wind and snow.
- Winter boots: Comfortable, waterproof and with good thermal insulation.
- Warm gloves: Ideally waterproof and lined. Take an extra pair in case they get wet.
- Hat and scarf: Or a balaclava to protect your face from the cold.
Essential accessories
- Thermal socks: Preferably wool and in double layers.
- Small backpack: To carry your personal belongings.
- Extra batteries: Cold weather can quickly drain camera and phone batteries.

- Camera: If you want to capture the auroras, be sure to bring a camera with manual mode and a tripod. Also, remember that the tour includes professional photography as a souvenir.

Where does the tour Tromso Northern Lights start
The tour starts and ends at the meeting point at the Magic Ice Bar in Tromso. The bus will pick you up at 19:00 and we recommend you to be there at least 10-15 minutes before. You will be back at the same meeting point at the end of the tour around midnight.
Questions & Answers
Is this northen lights tour suitable for all audiences?
Yes, this tour is suitable for seniors, people with reduced mobility, and pregnant women. However, it’s not recommended for children under 12 years old.
Is lunch included in the tour?
Yes, when we make the long stop we will prepare a bonfire with a typical Norwegian snack along with a hot drink (chocolate, blueberry tea, etc).
Does the tour include drop off?
Yes, when we return, we will drop you off at your accommodation around midnight.
What if I don't see Aurora Borealis (Northen Lights)?
The Aurora Borealis are natural phenomena, so their visibility can never be guaranteed 100%. However, our expert guide will do everything possible, traveling through various parts of Norway and Finland if necessary, to give you the best chance of witnessing them.
Will I be able to photograph the Aurora Borealis with my own equipment?
While our guide has professional photographic equipment to capture stunning pictures of the Auroras, you are more than welcome to bring your own gear and snap your own photos!
What type of vehicle is used for transfers during the Tromso Northern Lights Tour?
We use modern, comfortable, and air-conditioned 4x4 vans, specially designed to handle the Arctic climate.
How far do they travel to look for auroras?
Depending on the conditions, we may travel from areas close to Tromso all the way to Finland, crossing fjords and stunning landscapes along the way.
What clothes do I need to bring for a northern lights tour?
Thermal clothing, intermediate layers, waterproof jacket, winter boots, hat, gloves and scarf.
Should I bring my camera and will the guide help me take pictures?
Yes, if you have a camera, bring it. Our guides will help you set it up to capture the best images.
What if I have no experience photographing auroras?
Don't worry. Our guide will take professional photos of the auroras and share them with you after the tour. The tour also includes professional photography that you can take home as a souvenir.
How cold is it during the tour?
The temperature can vary between -5°C and -25°C, depending on the night.
Are restrooms available during the tour?
The bus does not have a bathroom, but we make regular stops when necessary.
Is it safe for children or elderly people?
The tour is recommended for ages 12 and older. If you are traveling with older people, please let us know so we can make sure they are comfortable during the experience.
